Balanced and well-proportioned, this ladder is distinguished by its elegant brown patina and its multiple traces of adze giving it a beautiful intensity.
Carved in the shape of a fork, its V-shaped top evokes the position of Nommo, a fundamental character in Dogon cosmogony, imploring the coming of rain. The pillars on which the Dogon houses rest were also carved with the same type of fork.
Perfectly architected, this superb object is a graceful testimony to the Dogon culture.
