This figure is Ganeśa, one of the most popular gods in the Hindu pantheon: He is the god of knowledge who removes obstacles and makes rituals, as well as any human undertaking, run smoothly. The dynamism of the god’s movement, making here a dance step, is remarkable, and its impressive size makes this sculpture an extraordinarily charismatic artwork.
