Oregon pine

Mirror in Oregon pine with brass nails. Oregon pine was treated in several stages. The wood was first worked with a metal brush to create relief, then stained in black and finally sanded on the surface. The recessed grain therefore remained black while that in relief retrieved its original orangey colour. With this treatment Sornay created a random two-colour pattern made up of of long, sinuous, black and orangey waves evocative of magnetic waves.
