An astronomical demonstration device that shows planet Earth (with its moon), Mercurius, Venus and Mars revolve around the Sun (which is represented by an oil lamp).
It demonstrates various principles of astronomy such as the change of seasons and lengths of daytime.
This Planetarium (Orrery) was made by the 19th century European globe maker “Jan Felkl” from Prague, around ca.1890.
Felkl was one of the major makers of these instruments and globes at the end of the nineteenth century.
