This work belongs to the « Teatrini » series, one of Fontana’s last. This series of 180 works, executed between 1964 and 1966, is characterised by lacquered wood frames of a uniform colour. They represent a proposed spatial figuration where irregular shapes are cut out from the edges of the frame, casting their shadow on a plain canvas that is often punctuated with holes. Signed and titled on the back « L Fontana, Concetto Spaziale »
