Oregon pine with brass nails. Foot frame in solid mahogany

Coffee table with three nested tables in Oregon pine with brass nails. Foot frame in solid mahogany.
André Sornay developed his first patent in 1932: the concept of “cloutage” that evokes aeroplane rivets. This new assembly technique involved attaching veneered panels onto a structure using small nails (“clous”). The alignment of these nails became both an element of decoration and a trademark. This patent led to the manufacture of a limited series of furniture that remained financially accessible.
