Harvest guardian «Bulul»

Carved from a single piece of hard wood, such spirit guardian were « fed » with sacrificial material to allow propitiatory spirits to protect the community.The universal position as a « thinker » of these Bulul sculptures is probably one of the most moving representation of the human being in tribal art.
